Elections Canada hosts polling station on UCalgary campus for 2025 federal vote

Open to eligible students, faculty and staff April 13-16

Elections Canada is establishing a special federal election polling station at the University of Calgary where all students, faculty and staff are invited to cast their vote in the 2025 federal election. The poll will be on the main floor of Hunter Student Commons on main campus and open on the following days and times:

  • Sunday, April 13, 2025, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Monday, April 14, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Tuesday, April 15, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Wednesday, April 16, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The special poll allows members of the campus community to vote in any federal electoral district in Canada in which they are a registered voter, including any Calgary district.

All voters must show valid identification before voting:

Option 1: Show one of these pieces of ID

  • your driver’s licence
  • any other card issued by a Canadian government (federal, provincial/territorial or local) with your photo, name and current address

Option 2: Show two pieces of ID

Both must have your name and at least one must have your current address.

Examples:

  • voter information card and bank statement
  • utility bill and student ID card

Students from other regions of Canada and living in residence who would prefer to vote in the University of Calgary’s federal electoral district of Calgary Confederation must complete a Letter of Residence and have it signed by a Residence Services administrator at the Campus Service Centre, located in International House on main campus.

In addition to the campus polling station, advance polls in your community run from Friday, April 18 to Monday, April 21. Election day is Monday, April 28, 2025.

You can also vote in person at any Elections Canada office across the country anytime before 4 p.m. on April 22 or you can vote by mail if you apply by April 22 at 4 p.m. See the voter information card mailed to registered voters this month or elections.ca for poll locations.

Members of the campus community who are interested in serving as poll workers during the federal election can apply at elections.ca/jobs.
