Mystery In The Mountains: Family Disputes Murder-Suicide Ruling In Death Of Twin Brothers

Twin brothers Qaadir Malik Lewis and Naazir Rahim Lewis were found dead on the remote Bell Mountain, nearly 90 miles from home.

TOWNS COUNTY, Ga. – What was supposed to be a trip to Boston ended in tragedy and unanswered questions for twin brothers Qaadir Malik Lewis and Naazir Rahim Lewis. Instead of boarding their flight, the 19-year-old brothers were found dead on the remote Bell Mountain, nearly 90 miles from home—a place their family insists they had never visited before.

A Mysterious Disappearance

The twins were scheduled to board a 7 a.m. flight to Boston on Friday morning to visit friends. When their family hadn’t heard from them, they assumed the brothers had safely arrived. But on Saturday morning, hikers in Hiawassee, Georgia, near the North Carolina border, made a chilling discovery: Qaadir and Naazir were found shot to death at the mountain summit.

Authorities with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) quickly ruled the case a murder-suicide, a conclusion the family vehemently disputes.

Twin Brothers: “They Were Inseparable”

The idea that one twin would harm the other is something the family simply refuses to accept.

The Lewis twins were inseparable, and the family refuses to believe that their death was a murder-suicide.

“They were very protective of each other. They loved each other. They were inseparable,” their uncle Rahim Brawner said. “I’ve never seen them fight, not even once.”

Adding to the mystery, their plane tickets were still inside their wallets, untouched. Their family insists that the brothers had no connection to Bell Mountain and had never mentioned traveling there.

“How did they end up in the mountains? They don’t hike, they don’t camp, they’ve never even heard of this place,” Brawner said. “Something happened to them in those mountains, and we want answers.”

A Troubling Investigation

While autopsy results have been completed, the GBI says they are still awaiting forensic test results before making a final ruling on the case. However, their preliminary murder-suicide claim has only fueled skepticism from the family.

“We knew right away that wasn’t true,” said their aunt, Yasmine Brawner. “They had a huge support system. They wouldn’t do this to each other. We need the truth.”

In the wake of this devastating loss, the family has launched an online campaign to raise funds for funeral expenses.

The case remains shrouded in mystery, and the family of Qaadir and Naazir Lewis won’t rest until they have real answers.
